신앙생활의 기본 원리: 십계명의 현대적인 이해 Ⅲ (제7-10계명)

1. 소돔과 고모라는 음란으로 가득 찬 도시였다(창 19:1-11). 주후 79년에 베수비우스 화산의 폭발로 순식간에 잿더미가 되어 버린 로마 제국의 폼페이 역사 마찬가지였다. 오늘날에는 에이즈(후천성 면역 결핍증)라는 무서운 질병이 빠른 속도로 번져가면서 세상 사람들을 두려움 속에 몰아넣고 있다. 이러한 배경에 비추어볼 때 제7계명은 어떠한 중요성을 가지고 있는가(레 18:6-23; 20:10-21; 신 27:20-23)? 요즈음 사회 문제가 되고 있는 근친상간 또는 동성연애(창 19:5; 롬 1:26-27)를 중심으로 생각해 보자.

2. 가정은 하나님께서 인간을 위해 만드신 가장 아름답고 신성한 창조 질서에 속한다. 위의 레위기나 신명기도 가정의 신성함을 매우 강조하고 있는데 오늘날의 결혼/이혼 풍속도는 어떠한지에 대해서 아는 바를 서로 이야기해 보고 잘못된 점이 무엇인지도 아울러 이야기해 보자(마 19:3-12 참조). 가정을 지키려는 노력에는 어떠한 마음 자세가 필요할까?

3. 회교의 코란경은 도적질한 사람의 손을 자르라고 규정하고 있다. 그러나 구약은 절도죄에 대해서 배상 제도를 적용한다(출22:1-15; 삼하 12:1-6). 왜 하나님의 계명은 일반 절도죄에 대해서 손을 자르는 형벌이라든가, 사형 같은 극형을 적용하지 않고 있을까?

4. 그러나 도적질의 경우에도 사형에 처해지는 경우가 있다. 그것은 바로 사람을 도적질하는 경우이다(출 21:16; 신24:7). 왜 일반 절도죄와 유괴죄에 대한 처벌이 다른지를 생각해 보고 요즈음의 인신 매매(납치, 인질)나 장기 매매를 이와 관련시켜 이야기해 보자(마 26:14-16).

5. 도적질은 다른 사람이 애써서 이루어 놓은 땀의 결실을 훔치는 못된 행위이다. 이러한 행위는 어떠한 점에서 하나님의 성품에 어긋나는가(창 1-2장; 요 5:17)? 노동이나 일은 대단히 신성한 것이다(창 2:15). 우리 사회에 불로소득자가 많다든가 땀의 대가를 정당하게 대우해 주는 풍토가 부족하다는 사실(특히 외국인 근로자)은 제8계명에 비추어볼 때 어떻게 시정되어야 하겠는가?

6. 이스라엘의 재판은 복수증인 제도를 택하고 있다(민 35:30; 신17:6; 19:15). 왜 그런지를 생각해 보고 거짓 증인에 대한 처벌은 또 어떠한지를 알아보자(신 19:16-21; 잠 6:16-19; 19:5,9). 복수증인 제도는 이스라엘 역사에서 악용되는 경우가 많았다. 거짓 증인들에 의해 처형당한 사람들의 예를 성경에서 찾아보자(왕상 21:13; 마26:59-60; 행 6:12-13).

7. 제9계명은 좁은 의미에서는 재판 상황에서 거짓 증언(위증)하는 것을 금지하는 것이지만, 넓은 의미에서는 모든 형태의 부정직한 말을 금지하는 것이다(시 15:2; 101:7; 습 3:13; 계21:27; 22:15). 어떠한 경우들이 있는지 각자의 삶 속에서 찾아보자.

8. 또한 진실을 말해야 하는 경우에 진실을 알면서도 침묵을 지키는 부작위적인 행동도 제9계명을 위반하는 것이다(레 5:1). 어떠한 사람들을 일컬어서 순교자라고 부르는지 서로 이야기해 보자. 그리고 이 시대의 그리스도인들은 진실 앞에서 어떠한 태도를 취해야 할 것인가도 생각해 봅시다.

9. 탐욕은 인간에게 있는 죄의 근본을 구성한다. 에덴 동산에서 살던 아담과 하와는 어떠한 동기에서 하나님의 명령을 무시하고서 선악과를 따먹었는가(창 3:6)? 탐욕으로 인해서 멸망당한 사람들의 이야기를 성경에서 찾아보자(아간=수 7장; 아합=왕상 21장; 게하시=왕하 5장; 아나니아와 삽비라=행 5장).

10. 예수님은 누가복음 12:15-21에서 탐심(탐욕)에 대해 어떻게 경계하셨는가? 물질(부) 자체를 많이 소유한 것만으로 죄가 성립하는지 그렇지 않는지를 마태복음 19:16-26을 중심으로 생각해 보자. 누가복음 19:1-10에 의하면 물질은 어떻게 사용하는 것이 바람직한가? 물질에 관해서 하나님께 기도할 때에는 어떠한 자세가 바람직한가(잠 30:7-9)? “사랑은 버리는 것”이라는 복음송 제목을 생각하면서 사랑과 탐심의 관계에 대해서 이야기해 보자(마 27:46; 갈 2:20; 엡 5:3).
