하루는 두 사람과 노동조합원이 보트에서 한가하게 낚시를 즐기고 있는데 예수님께서 물위를 가로질러 그들에게 다가왔다. 세 사람은 처음엔 당황했지만 시간이 지나자 예수님에게 말을 건넬 정도로 분위기가 익숙해졌다. 첫 번째 남자가 예수님에게 공손히 말을 건넸다: "예수님 저는 베트남 전쟁에서 등에 파편을 맞고 지금까지 그 고통에서 헤어 나오지 못하고 있습니다. 저 좀 도와주세요." 예수님 왈, "알았다, 내 아들아" 예수님이 그의 등에 손을 댔을 때, 그의 고통은 씻은 듯이 사라져 버렸다. 두 번째 남자는 눈이 심각할 정도로 안 좋아서 항상 두꺼운 안경을 쓰고 다녔고 책을 읽거나 운전을 하는데 매우 힘든 시간을 보내고 있었다. 그는 예수님에게 그의 시력을 좋게 해 달라고 부탁했다. 예수님은 얼굴에 가득 웃음을 지으며 그의 안경을 벗겨 강물 위로 던져버렸다. 안경이 물에 닿자마자 그의 눈은 완전히 치유되어 아름다운 세상을 안경 없이 맘껏 즐길 수 있게 되었다. 예수님이 세 번째 남자의 병을 고치기 위해 돌아보았다. 그런데 그때 그 남자가 방어적인 모션으로 손을 내저으며 말했다. "저 건들지 마세요. 회사에서 장기 산재 피해 보험을 받고 있단 말이에요." Two guys and a union worker were fishing on a lake one day, when Jesus walked across the water and joined them in the boat. When the three astonished men had settled down enough to speak, the first guy asked humbly, "Jesus, I've suffered from back pain ever since I took shrapnel in the Vietnam war...could you help me?" "Of course, my son", Jesus said, and when he touched the man's back, he felt relief for the first time in years. The second man, who wore very thick glasses and had a hard time reading and driving, asked if Jesus could do anything about his eyesight. Jesus smiled, removed the man's glasses and tossed them in the lake. When they hit the water, the man's eyes cleared and he could see everything distinctly. When Jesus turned to heal the union worker, the guy put his hands up and cried defensively, "Don't touch me! I'm on long term disability." |
