골프를 무지 좋아하는 어느 목사가 있었다. 틈이 날 때마다 그는 골프를 치러 다니곤 했다. 과히 골프에 중독되었다고 할 정도였다. 구름 한 점 없고 화창한, 골프하기에 매우 적격인 어느 일요일 날 그는 골프치고 싶은 마음을 억누르지 못하고 집사에게 전화를 걸어 아프다고 핑계를 대어 교회 예배를 빠지고 자신을 알아볼 사람이 없는, 집에서 약 3시간 거리에 있는 골프장으로 향했다. 그가 막 골프를 시작하려 할 때 하늘에서는 천사가 그를 내려다보고 있었다. 천사는 매우 황당하여 하나님에게로 다가가 고자질했다. "지금 목사가 한 명 있는데 교회 예배는 인도 안하고 골프장에서 골프치고 있습니다. 그는 처벌받아 마땅합니다." 하나님은 천사의 말에 고개를 끄덕이며 동의했다. 목사가 첫 번째 홀을 향해 티샷을 날렸는데 공이 하늘을 가르며 약 350 야드가 떨어진 홀로 정확히 떨어지는 것이 아닌가!!! 그것도 힘도 안들이고 친 샷이었는데... 한 마디로 믿기 어려운 꿈만 같은 홀인원이었다. 목사는 매우 놀라고 흥분하기 시작했다. 천사는 이 광경을 보고 약간 어리둥절하여 하나님에게 물어보았다. "죄송한데요... 하나님... 저는 당신이 그 목사에게 벌을 내릴 거라고 생각했는데요..." 하나님은 얼굴에 웃음을 머금고 말했다. "그가 자기가 이렇게 멋있는 홀인원을 했다고 누구에게 자랑할 수 있겠느냐!" There was this preacher who was an avid golfer. Every chance he could get, he could be found on the golf course swinging away. It was an obsession. One Sunday was a picture perfect day for golfing. The sun was out, no clouds in the sky, and the temperature was just right. The preacher was in a quandary as to what to do, and shortly, the urge to play golf overcame him. He called an assistant to tell him that he was sick and could not do church, packed the car up, and drove three hours to a golf course where no one would recognize him. Happily, he began to play the course. An angel up above was watching the preacher and was quite perturbed. He went to God and said, "Look at the preacher. he should be punished for what he is doing." God nodded in agreement. The preacher teed up on the first hole. He swung at the ball, and it sailed effortlessly through the air and landed right in the cup three hundred and fifty yards away. A picture perfect hole-in-one. He was amazed and excited. The angel was a little shocked. he turned to God and said, "Begging your pardon, but I thought you were going to punish him." God smiled. "Think about it -- who can he tell." |
